ASHEVILLE, N.C. (November 15, 2000) - Andy Petree Racing announced today it is seeking a sponsor to run a limited schedule for the 2001 season in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division for the No. 15 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and driver Mike Skinner. APR has announced it would like to field a team in 10-15 races for Skinner during the 2001 season. This past season, APR ran a limited schedule with two part-time sponsors for a total of 20 races. Skinner, who drove the car in six of the races, captured one pole and posted two top-10 finishes and one top five. "Mike is a dedicated and proven driver on all three NASCAR circuits," said Steve Barkdoll, vice president and general manager of APR. "We had a lot of success with Mike behind the wheel this season, and we would like to build on that success with him again next year in the Busch series. "Recently, we decided to reevaluate our Busch program and outline our goals. Since Mike has done such a great job for us, we've decided to give it another try. We're excited to get him back behind the wheel. All we need is a sponsor to go on the hood, and we'll be ready to go." Skinner, 43, has been on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit since 1997 when he captured rookie of the year honors. In 1995, he was crowed champion in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. "I had an exciting season with APR, and I hope that we can continue our relationship next season," Skinner said. "I really enjoyed working with the team, and I had a lot of fun in the Busch garage. The opportunity also gave me additional track time, which helped me build on my Winston Cup performance. "I'm looking forward to all that we can accomplish next season in the Busch series."
