On the 17th and 18th of February 2001, Brooklands, the birthplace of British Motorsport and Aviation throws open it's doors for the 10th Annual BEN Charity Auction and Motorsports Weekend. You can have the opportunity to be driven on the legendary banked circuit by an International Rally Driver in a car that competed in the Network Q Rally of Great Britain.
In a joint venture, TI MOTORSPORT have teamed up with drivers NICK KENNEDY and MILES JOHNSTON to demonstrate the awesome power and traction of the latest generation of Rally Cars. The cars will be running on the most dramatic part of the original 1907 Outer Circuit, "Member's Banking". Rising to a height of thirty feet, and too steep to walk up, this is an incredibly rare opportunity to be driven at speed on a part of motorsport history, and to support a worthwhile cause.
Brooklands was the world's first purpose built motor racing circuit, built near Weybridge, Surrey it is just a few minutes from Junction 10 of the M25 (A3). At the two-day event you will be able to meet people from all facets of the motorsports world; race and rally drivers, marshals, pit-crew, designers, and even journalists! Over twelve and a half thousand (12,500) advance tickets have been sold to this now traditional opening to the British Motorsport season.
The site is also the birthplace of British aviation, where A.V. Roe made the first flight in a British-built aeroplane in 1908. As well as an extensive catalogue of historic racing cars, aircraft exhibits dating from the dawn of aviation right through to modern Jet fighters are on display.
BEN is the motor industries own benevolent organisation caring for over 13,000 men, women and children. With MURRAY WALKER, OBE leading the appeal for items, the auction on Saturday includes F1 drivers' racewear, race car bodywork and components, signed prints, posters and books.
TI MOTORSPORT, MILES JOHNSTON, and NICK KENNEDY together organise rally rides and driving events around the country. You can contact TI on 01491 628190 or visit http://www.timotorsport.com for more details
