BREWERTON, NY - The Brewerton and Fulton Speedways are proud to announce that they will become New York State Stock Car Association (NYSSCA) members for the first time in their long and storied history of stock car racing.
NYSSCA, established in 1969, is an excellent organization (not a sanctioning body) to help the drivers currently racing at Utica-Rome, Lebanon Valley, Fonda, Devils Bowl, Albany-Saratoga, and Afton Speedways. With Brewerton and Fulton now involved, it brings the total number of tracks up to eight, and the possibility exists that Can-Am Motorsports Park also may be involved. NYSSCA needs everyone's support to help award the drivers for sportsmanship and dedication to the sport along with preserving racing history.
With Brewerton and Fulton as new NYSSCA tracks this summer, the emphasis will be to educate the racers, crewmembers, and fans about NYSSCA. One of the biggest myths is that you have to be a driver to be involved. Not true - NYSSCA is open to anyone, including drivers, crewmembers, car owners, sponsors, fans, officials, and media personnel.
Every NYSSCA member receives access to the injured driver's benefit fund ($100 a week payable for 26 weeks), eligibility for NYSSCA awards, a NYSSCA membership card, and a monthly newsletter. Each NYSSCA member track has a safety awards night where cash awards are given to the first NYSSCA member across the line in the feature for every division. This award is contingent on NYSSCA membership in good standing and display of the NYSSCA decal on the racecar.
Dates for NYSSCA Safety Award nights at each speedway will be announced in the near future. In addition, NYSSCA members at both speedways will also be eligible for awards at the annual highly acclaimed NYSSCA banquet in Albany this coming January.
Locally at the Utica-Rome Speedway, now beginning its fifth year as a NYSSCA member track, dozens of drivers in each division have been honored each year because of their membership in NYSSCA in addition to various monetary awards.
NYSSCA is not only for drivers, and all members can benefit from this great racing organization. Memberships, which cost only $25, will be available at both speedways this summer. For more information or for a membership form, go to NYSSCA on the web at www.nyssca.com or see NYSSCA track representatives Doug Zupan and new head starter Dick Sweet, as well as NYSSCA president Ed Biittig, who will also be on hand at various times during the year at both speedways
