LAS VEGAS - Chris Blair will join the staff at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the director of drag-racing and dirt-racing operations, LVMS executive vice president and general manager Chris Powell announced Wednesday. Blair has spent the past four years as the director of the Northwest Division for the National Hot Rod Association.

Blair, 31, will begin his new duties in July.

"Chris brings a wealth of promotional and operational experience to Las Vegas Motor Speedway," Powell said. "His presence will help us expand our drag-racing and dirt-racing programs to new levels."

Blair has been responsible for the sanctioning of 19 NHRA tracks in four western states and three Canadian provinces. The Kentucky native came to NHRA after a stint as director of business development for Chicago-based Pace Motorsports (now SFX Motorsports). While at Pace, Blair was involved in the production and expansion of AMA Supercross, USHRA Monster Truck and stadium off-road events. Blair began his motorsports career promoting sprint-car and late-model dirt races at a variety of facilities in the Southeast.

"My goal when I began my motorsports career was to be involved with a multipurpose motorsports and entertainment venue," Blair said. "To have this opportunity at the greatest racing facility ever built is beyond my wildest dreams. Both the dirt track and The Strip host premiere motorsports events. Our focus will be on developing other major events for these venues and making our existing programs more exciting for participants, spectators and sponsors."
