PENDLETON, Ind. (August 26, 2001) - One week after filing a lawsuit against Viacom and TNN, the American Speed Association has reached an agreement to drop its request for a preliminary injunction in regard to the decision to tape delay two events on the 2001 ASA ACDelco Series schedule.

The agreement specifies that the Miller Lite 300 at the Minnesota State Fair Park on Labor Day, September 3, will air on a tape-delayed basis, at 12:30 a.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, September 4, and will re-air on Saturday, September 8, at 4 p.m. Eastern time.

The season ending Tirerack.com 200 on September 29 at Indianapolis Raceway Park will air live, at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The start time for the Tirerack.com 200 has been moved up by one-hour to 8 p.m. Eastern (7 p.m. local).

ASA officials informed competitors at the Pennsylvania 300 at Jennerstown Speedway of a portion of the agreement on Saturday.

"We felt, and continue to feel, that this action was necessary to protect ASA, our sponsors, our competitors and your sponsors," the statement read.
