Pantano tops first Imola testing

Giorgio Pantano took first blood in the Imola testing. The Italian driver topped the sheets in the first testing session on the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit, showing a great pace despite completing just 10 laps with used tyres. The GP2 champion stopped the clock on a 1'33"831 with the SuperNova car, finishing the session in front of Celso Miguez, 4 tenths behind with the RP Motorsport Lola.

Fabio Onidi was good third, two tenths adrift from Miguez and with a two tenths gap on Adrien Tambay, again in good shape after nearly clinching third place in Brno. Behind Tambay was Stefano Bizzari, showing again a big competitivity improvement from RP Motorsport. The championship leader were nearly tied, with Luca Filippi sixth and Edoardo Piscopo just one tenth behind him. Jan Charouz was eight, with just a 0.018 gap from the Italian driver, with the DAMS car of Duncan Tappy behind.

Stefano Coletti, tenth with Charouz-Gravity Racing, was the best among the new entries, 1"2 far from the best lap. Fabrizio Crestani and Federico Leo opted for a more cautious approach, and will push harder in the second session, planned for 12 o'clock.
