ISTANBUL: SCUDERIA COLONI READY FOR PODIUM
There's a clear aim for Scuderia Coloni looking to the GP2 Main Series event in Istanbul: after boasting a strong performance in Monte Carlo, the team's objective can only be a podium finish. The team knows how to make a competitive car for the Turkish track, one of the most interesting of the GP2 calendar from a technical standpoint: in 2009 only a slow puncture robbed the italian outfit of a well deserved third place, and the Scuderia Coloni staff is ready to prepare again two quick cars for his drivers.
So, Alberto Valerio and Vladimir Arabadzhiev will "just" have to take the most out of their cars. The brazilian in Monaco was always among the quickest drivers of the field for the whole weekend, and he also managed a blasting pass on Bianchi in the Mirabeau hairpin in race 2. In Turkey, he will have to keep this momentum showing the same determination. Arabadzhiev, meanwhile, will be at his third event with the Main Series car and he will take advantage of the growing feeling with both the team and the car.
The Istanbul weekend will start on Friday May 28 with Free Practice at 11.15 and Qualifying at 16.00. Race 1 will e held on Saturday from 15.40 while Race 2 will start on Sunday at 11.35.
Paolo Coloni: "After the competitiveness we showed in Monaco, our aim can only be a podium finish with both drivers. Valerio showed in Monte Carlo that he is one of the top drivers, now he just has to carry out that talent in order to broach the Champagne bottle. For Vladimir, from what we've seen in the winter testing and in the first two races, his driving style should suit the circuit layout very well, so with a god first race he can aim for the big target in the Sunday race".
