Norbert Siedler fastest in Official Free Practice
Norbert Siedler topped the timesheets after the Official Free Practice session at the Circuit Zolder in Belgium for round eight of the SUPERFUND Euro 3000 championship. Alex Lloyd finished the session in second place with Bernhard Auinger in third.
Teams worked on set-up during the half hour of Official Free Practice in preparation for the fifty-minute Qualifying session which takes place this afternoon at 13:40.
Under sunny skies, Norbert Siedler set the pace in Free Practice, losing his place at the top of the timesheets briefly to Alex Lloyd mid-way through the session. The ADM Motorsport driver came out in the final minutes of the session to secure the fastest time of the morning with a 1:24.455. Alex Lloyd clocked up a 1:24.646 for John Village Automotive with Austrian driver Bernhard Auinger posting the third fastest time with a 1:25.221.
Norbert Siedler (AUT), ADM Motorsport:
"This session was really good for me as each time I get out on the track, I get better and better but it's what happens this afternoon that counts! We tried a few things on the car after the Free Practice sessions yesterday and it seemed to work. For Qualifying, it's going to be very important to put in a quick time in the first two laps as after that, the pace drops off here in Zolder."
Alex Lloyd (GBR), John Village Automotive:
"I'm pleased with this morning's results. We changed a few things overnight and the car is now almost perfect. We expected Siedler to be fast as he was on race tyres from Donington which didn't complete the full distance. The car's feeling really strong and my time was only a tenth off yesterday's on brand new tyres which shows what a great job the team have done overnight. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can get out of it in Qualifying this afternoon."
Bernhard Auinger (AUT), Euronova:
"I'm quite happy with my time today as we made some changes before my last run and the car is now feeling really strong. After the last two races, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and I'm feeling very confident with the set-up we have now. Qualifying is going to be interesting and I think anything is possible this afternoon."
