BRATT KEEPS HIS MOMENTUM WITH VALLELUNGA'S POLE
FIVE DRIVERS IN HALF OF A SECOND
Nobody can stop Will Bratt. The british driver in Vallelunga managed to keep his momentum clinching a wondeful pole position, his second in this Euroseries 3000 by PartyPoker Racing Season. Despite being at his first race on the italian circuit, Will was able to understand immediately the track's secrets and in qualifying was faster lap after lap. Already at the top with a 1'24"341 after the first half of the session, he improved in the following minutes and he did the final step ahead with the last new tyres set. With that, he managed to stop the clocks at 1'24"120, nearly 4 tenths faster than everybody else.
Bratt was the only exception in a very balanced session. The drivers are thrilled by the series prize, a fully funded GP2 Asia season with Scuderia Coloni, and so there was an hard fight for this qualifying second position. Beetwen the 2nd on the grid, Fabrizio Crestani, and Rodolfo Gonzalez, who was 6th, there was a gap of only half of a second. The italian TP Formula driver, really fast from the start of the weekend, will start alongside Bratt thanks to a 1'24"499, a time only .003 faster than Marco Bonanomi's one. Behind them, Fabio Onidi and Ben Hanley, with the italian faster than the brit by only 6 hundreths! Onidi, anyway, was not happy about his pace in qualifying while Hanley complained about an heavy feeling car in the slow section of the track.
The brit, racing for team Costa Rica, was ahead of Rodolfo Gonzalez, slowed by an understeering car, and Juan Carlos Sistos, with Francesco Dracone only 0"5 slower.
Will Bratt: "I'm really happy, especially because Vallelunga is a completely new track to me. I did the same last year in Spa with F.3, and also this time it's a very special feeling. Tomorrow I will have to avoid mistakes at the start".
Fabrizio Crestani: "I'm happy about this front row start, pole position would have been better as here overtaking is not easy, but Bratt's time was too fast for us. Anyway, I think that they only managed to take the best from the new tyres, but I believe that our race pace can be faster than theirs".
Marco Bonanomi: "Things didn't go as we wanted, I can't feel satisfied. The car still lacks grip on the rear end, and I couldn't be faster than that. We tried everything, but it simply didn't work".
