The Euroseries 3000 Championship isn't still over, but the organizers are already looking towards the new 2009 season. After setting the maximum cost for the Italian and European F.3000 championship in just 350.000 Euros, after confirming the Lola B02/50-Zytek with Formula 1-style paddle shift gearbox, now the 2009 calendar was confirmed.

Great news for the season, which will comprehend 14 races (in 7 events) divided in four nations such as Italy, Portugal, England and Spain. The beginning is scheduled on the 19th of April on the Imola track, which comes back in the F.3000 calendar after the recent works done to update the track. One month later the paddock will move to Portugal on the Algarve - Portimao track (17 May), and then to the most exciting track in the world, Spa-Francorchamps (28 June).

Before the summer break, teams and drivers will move to England, in Donington Park (5 July) on the track which will host again also the Formula 1 champions. In September and October the Euroseries 3000 will come back to Italy, on the Roman track of Vallelunga, entitled to Piero Taruffi (20 September) and on the fastest track in Europe, Monza (18 October). The grand finale will be in Spain, on the Barcelona track (1 November)

Euroseries 3000 will come back on track this weekend on the Barcelona track for the seventh round of the season. New for this event will be the Roman driver (also competing in A1GP with Team Italy) Edoardo Piscopo, who will debut with the Lola B02/50 of the Sighinolfi Autoracing team.

At two weekends to the end, the fight for the European F.3000 championship is very open, with three drivers in just 11 points. After the Jerez race, the French Nicolas Prost (Bull Racing) has overtaken the Italian Fabio Onidi (GP Racing) to lead the championship with 50 points.

Behind them, the Anglo-Pakistan Adam Khan (TP Formula) is more and more aggressive with his 39 points, ahead of Durango's Columbian, Omar Leal.
