The qualification of the 7-th round of Euro 3000 Series has brought a good starting positon for Roman Rusinov -- he will start from the 5-th place.
"There were supporting classes at the track before our qualification, in particular, directly before us there went Cup Skoda cars. These pilots quite presume to cut off all the turns, and the result of such driving - huge amount of dust on the circute".
All the pilots didn't left the boxes for a long time, waiting for someone who took a risk of "cleaning" the line. In a result Roman made his first qualifying lap only on the 45-th minute of qualification and showed the 8-th time.
"I didn't like the balance, so I drove at once to the boxes. They changed the set-up and put a new set of tyres. Basically, we planned to use only one set and reserve the new one for tomorrow, but I didn't want to start the race from the 8-th position".
The team immediately changed the set up, and three minutes prior to the end of qualification Roman left the boxes to correct the result. He has had time to make only one flying lap, and on its course the Russian pilot was strongly prevented by slowly coming back to the pit-lane Sven Heidfeld.
"Fabrizio caught Heidfeld up at the straight and slip-streammed him, and I "found" Sven in the turn and lost I think 2-3 hundreds of a second".
Despite this Roman managed to show the 5-th result of the day -- 1.49,37. The team is happy with the result and with the solution of balance "lottery" faced in recent days.
"The 5-th position on the grid is very good for me, it's even better than the 4-th, because I'll start from the external clean side of the curcute. I feel very positive about tomorrow. It'll be nice to overtake as the curcute is really wide and the turns are very fast. I guess there will be a lot of overtakings tomorrow. We'll have an interesting race".
