PLAYTEAM SARAFREE CONCLUDES PRODUCTIVE TEST IN VALLELUNGA
Scuderia Playteam SaraFree invited a number of leading drivers to test its cars from various racing series at Vallelunga, in preparation for the team's busy upcoming year of racing. In 2008, the team will be competing in the Italian GT Championship, International GT Open, Euroseries 3000, and the Superleague Formula challenge.
On day one at Vallelunga, young Davide Rigon, the champion of 2007 F3000 Euroseries and Marco Bonanomi, who currently competes in the GP2 Asia Series with Piquet Racing were in action as well as Giacomo Ricci, 2006 European F3000 champion and Alessandro Pier Guidi. Conditions were tricky due to rain and the four drivers recorded plenty of mileage setting competitive lap times.
The test continued on February 5 at Vallelunga. The weather had improved and as the track dried, the drivers gave their best and switched to slick tyres after lunch. Filipe Albuquerque (2007 Red Bull F1 Test Driver), Jason Tahinci (currently involved in the GP2 Asia Series) and Bruce Jouanny were all in action.
The test session concluded in dry conditions on February 6 with David Rigon and Alessandro Pier Guidi in action.
The team's newly appointed sporting Director Giovanni Minardi started his official function as manager for the team's new 'Single Seater' department at this test session.
Team owner Giambattista Giannoccaro said: "I am happy to welcome Giovanni Minardi to our team He will oversee the single seater development that was until now missing from the activities of Playteam Sarafree. I trust his experience and knowledge on how to assess the qualities of good drivers. His knowledge from all categories is very impressive and should prove valuable to our team. Playteam has progressed greatly under his direction and we have achieved a lot during these three days testing at Vallelunga. I would like to thank all drivers who responded to our invitation. Together, we all worked hard despite the weather conditions and the data gathered will be very useful to the team for the entire season."
