HAT TRICK FOR KHAN IN MUGELLO: POLE, WIN AND FASTEST LAP
Fantastic weekend for the TP Formula Anglo-Pakistani driver Adam Khan, protagonist of a superlative performance in the fourth round of the Euroseries 3000, held on the demanding Mugello circuit.
Khan has always led each session and, during the 30 crucial minutes of the qualifying, has even been able to set a lap time inaccessible for anyone else, putting a gap of more than six tenth between him and Nicolas Prost, son of the F1 champion Alain and second on the grid
In Race 1, after a perfect start and with a disarming ease, Khan has succeeded, in just a few laps, to put between him and his opponents a margin of more than 5 seconds. He has then managed his advantage until the chequered flag showing also a remarkable maturity.
The Pakistani anthem played therefore on the Euroseries 3000 podium for the first time and TP Formula obtained the first deserved victory at its third participation in the series, confirming the excellent job done from the beginning of this championship: three pole positions in the last three races and with three different drivers, a second place in Spa with Davide Rigon, a second and third place in Valencia by Felipe Guimarães and Adam Khan reveal that the black- silver Lola B06/50 of the Italian team is currently the car to beat.
Felipe Guimarães was instead in Mugello mainly to discover the secrets of the demanding track where on September 21st the 17 years old Brazilian will be at the wheel of the new Ferrari A1GP car for the first round of the Series. He constantly improved, session after session, and during Race 1 he was able to keep the same pace of the leaders, but after a contact with Dracone had to drop the fifth position, ending seventh.
A spin in the early stages has instead prejudiced the second race result, but Felipe has then confirmed the fighting spirit already showed in Valencia and has finished both races in the points.
In the second race Adam Khan was instead asked to make a difficult comeback: as a result of the reversed grid and of the confusion generated by Prost, who did a jump start and then remained blocked on the grid in front of the Anglo-Pakistani, Khan was forced to recover from the last position but then took the checkered flag just behind his team-mate, only a few seconds from the group of the first five drivers.
