SECOND POLE OF THE SEASON FOR DAVIDE RIGON (MINARDI/GP)
DANIELSSON (ELK) AND MARTINI (RC) FOLLOWING HIM
Davide Rigon (Minardi/GP) will start from pole position this afternoon (Saturday) at 5:40 pm in Race 1 of Euroseries 3000, fourth season round scheduled at Mugello. The Italian driver, with a time of 1'38"526, did more than a second better than the previous qualifying record (set last year by Marco Bonanomi in 1'39"989). Thus Rigon obtained the second pole of 2007, after the one in the first race of the season in Vallelunga.
On the Tuscan track six drivers were split by less than a second. Alongside Rigon in race 1 will start Alx Danielsson, who clocked a time of 1'38"735 in the dying minutes of the session.
Moments later, Elk Motorsport's Swedish went off track at Arrabbiata, managing anyway to come back to the pits without any problem. Same turn and same mistake for Oliver Martini (RC Motorsport), again in the final seconds, just after having set the third time in 1'38"747. Rigon's team-mate, Diego Nunes, will also start from the second row with a time fo 1'38"789.
Great debut in Euroseries 3000 for Ananda Mikola. The Indonesian, with G-Tec Lola, was fifth on the Italian track. The 27-years-old Mikola is an experienced driver, having raced for a couple of seasons in Italian F3 in the late 90s for RC Motorsport. Alongside the Indonesian will start the other Brazilian of the championship, Luiz Razia (Fisichella Motorsport).
Race 1, which will be broadcast live on Nuvolari TV, will start this afternoon (14 laps). Race 2 is scheduled tomorrow at 12:40 am (18 laps), again broadcast live.
