An important test for GP Racing: Del Monte is the fastest.
The two day test session organized by GP Racing on the Misano Adriatico race track has ended. Four drivers went on the track for the Venetian team: Fabrizio Del Monte (who already flawlessly partook in two other test sessions), Maxime Hodencq, Mathias Lauda and Marcel Lasèe.
Fabrizio Del Monte participated on Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th. He was remarkable on both days. After finding the perfect set up on Thursday morning, Fabrizio set GP Racing's best time ever:1.20.92 with new tyres on. Insatiable, Del Monte improved his time with new tyres lap after lap on Friday and set a record for the Euro 3000 series with 1.20.08.
Maxime Hodencq performed well as well . He wasn't familiar with the track and thus ran a few laps to familiarize him to the circuit. He then was able to constantly lower his time. Although he was using old tyres he set very interesting times: 1.22.40 on Thursday and 1.22.30 on Friday.
The German Marcel Laseè made his debut on GP Racing's Lola. The young German driver (who already participated in 2 F1 tests with Jordan in 2002) highly impressed the team.Laseè tested on Friday with new tyres and set a very significant time: 1.20.89. He's definitely one driver (born in Dusseldorf on 01.10.82) that we should keep our eye on.
Mathias Lauda (son of the famous Nikki Lauda) had his time on the track as well. He ran 20 laps with used tyres and set 1.21.90 as a time. His performance can not be judged by this performance because he didn't run enough laps. However, Mathias surely didn't disappoint the Venetian team.
A very positive 2003 year ends for GP Racing with this test session. GP Racing has brought home the 3rd place win in the constructor's category this year and Fabrizio Del Monte is the European vice champion.
GP Racing would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the media, fans and sponsors who passionately follow motor sports, a peaceful 2004.
