Man Of The Race for Donington goes to Alex Lloyd

British driver Alex Lloyd is the sixth driver to be awarded the Man Of The Race Award as voted by viewers of the live DSF television coverage and the www.superfundeuro3000.com website.

The John Village Automotive driver won the viewers vote for his spirited performance in front of a home crowd in Donington, England.

On Saturday, Lloyd posted the only sub-minute time to take his first pole position of the SUPERFUND Euro 3000 Championship. Despite starting from the back of the grid due to a broken driveshaft which failed moments before the grid formation, Lloyd battled his way through the competition and posted the fastest lap of the race with a 1:00.581.

By the end of lap nine, the young British driver was up to sixth position before a spirited overtaking attempt on Tuka Rocha saw him spin off track and out of the race.

This afternoon, Lloyd will start from pole position for the second time in a row for Round Seven of the SUPERFUND Euro 3000 Championship in Dijon, France.

Alex Lloyd, John Village Automotive:

"This Man Of The Race Award really means a lot to me. I had bad luck in Donington but it shows that people recognised my pace and hard work pushing up through the field. It's a good feeling to win the respect of the viewers and to be recognised in this way so a big thank you to everyone who voted for me!"
