Coloni Motorsport confirmed the good outcomes taken Friday in the qualifying session, with Marco Bonanomi, Michele Rugolo and Christian Montanari respectively placed fifth, sixth and seventh.
Coloni Motorsport had lined up three drivers and a car, the Lola-Dome F106, at their debut on a street circuit in Formula 3: however, all the three drivers of the Italian team got a good result: Marco Bonanomi, started from the third position, immediately tried to attack Montin on the first corner with an overtaking in the outfield line, but unluckily the dirt track forced him to slow down, losing two positions.
Michele Rugolo, for the first time at the wheel of a Formula 3, kept his sixth position after an exciting first part of the race.
An aggressive race for Montanari: the Italian F3 Vice-champion, thanks to an excellent start as usual, made up immediately two positions and then got close to his team-mates, finishing seventh. Race 1 result is important for Christian because will allow him to start from a better position and to aim at the podium.
Sunday the second race will take place at 11.45 (GMT+1).
Marco Bonanomi, 5° : "I made a good start from the third position and I tried to pass Montin on the first corner, but unfortunately between the first and second corner I lost two positions due to the dirt I met. Unluckily overtaking is very difficult here and I couldn't catch up. Sunday we have to see what will happen after the start, very important here at Cagliari: if you make a mistake you compromise the race".
Michele Rugolo, 6° : "It went really good, considering that this is my first F3 race. I lost a position after the start but I took it back on the first lap. After that I got close to Marco, but overtaking here is very hard and I had to follow him. Sunday we can get a good result, we are already working in the right direction".
Christian Montanari, 7° : "Unluckily, here starting from behind is a big problem, but in spite of this I earned two positions after the lights. After having joined Marco and Michele I followed them until the chequered flag, overtaking was almost impossible. All in all, I improved my start position for race 2 and this is not bad".
Paolo Coloni, Team Principal: "I'm sorry for what happened after the start to Marco, who lost the possibility of taking a win due to the dirt. However I'm happy with the results taken by our three drivers, at their debut on a street circuit with a F3. Thanks to these results we will be able Sunday to fight for the final podium of F3 Sardinia Master".
