Pole and track record for Bonanomi

Marco Bonanomi broke the overall track record today in Adria, as he gained the Pole Position spot for today's Race 1. The winner of the 2005 Motorshow set a best lap of 1'07"806, followed by "Tuka" Rocha (Minardi Racing), and team-mate Paolo Maria Nocera, who had to deal with setup issues. Matteo Cressoni was fourth, really competitive in the red B2-50 by Vanni-Traini Racing. Fifth position for the second Minardi-owned car of Juan Càcares. Good results for Giancarlo Minardi's comeback as sporting director, with room of improvement for the two races.

After the first few minutes, the lap times got prograssively faster as the best cars quickly step under the 1-minute and 9 seconds barrier. Problems for Giacomo Ricci, who led the initial stages, relegated in 8th position behind Oliver Martini and Vitaly Petrov, todays leader of the Euronova squad. Martini's Avelon team-mate, Ivan Bellarosa, saw his session come to an early end as the engine stopped in the mid section of the track. The last top ten spots were taken by two Auto Sport racers, South African Gavin Cronje and Stefano Gattuso. The first of the two races is on schedule today evening at 17.30. Some hours are still available to make changes and setup adjustments.
