Mahaveer Raghunathan recorded a double podium finish on his debut outing in Auto GP, finishing second and third, at Adria International Raceway.
Raghunathan started the weekend on a high note, topping the solitary practice session with a time of 1m9.749s.
The Chennai-born driver improved his laptime by over a second in qualifying but could qualify no higher than third, as Germany’s Michael Dorrbecker took pole ahead of Luis Sa Silva (Zele Racing).
In race one, Raghunathan made a poor getaway and fell to the back of the pack, only to recover with an inspired drive to secure second place.
The Indian finished a lap down on race winner Dorrbecker with Dominik Fekete completing the podium.
In race two, the field was much closer as Dorrbecker sealed another race win, with Sa Silva making up for race one disappointment by taking second place.
Raghunathan, having started from the front-row dropped a place to finish third, 0.935s behind second placed, after 23 laps of racing.
The Indian sits second in the championship with 33 points as Dorrbecker leads with 52 points.
