The newly-created Walkinshaw Racing GT3 squad has confirmed that John Martin and Duvashen Padayachee will form its driver line-up for the 2016 endurance season.
The Walkinshaw team will expand this season, adding a factory-backed Porsche GT3 programme to its Holden Racing Team duties in V8 Supercars.
The team will contest the four rounds of the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship with a brand new Porsche GT3 R, today confirming that former international sportscar hopeful John Martin will lead the driver line-up, alongside Duvashen Padayachee.
Both drivers come into the Australian GT competition having raced in Carrera Cup last season.
“Having the right group of people together is the first step to achieving strong results in any form of motorsport” said team boss Ryan Walkinshaw.
“In John and Duvashen, I believe we have the right people to do the job for us in the endurance series in our newly-formed GT3 team.
“They are both fresh from competing in the Carrera Cup and already have an affinity with the Porsche brand, so although our Porsche 911 GT3 R will be the first of its kind in Australia I believe they will have no trouble adapting.”
Martin will also race the car in selected Australian GT ‘sprint’ rounds, starting at the third round in Perth in May. His sprint team-mate has not yet been confirmed.
