Alex Garcia prepares for Trois-Rivières
Atlanta (GA) July 30th, 2002. Venezuelan driver Alex Garcia, driver for the Transnet Racing team will compete next weekend at the Trois-Rivières street circuit located in Quebec (Canada), when the competitive Toyota Atlantic Championship resumes action after a three week break.
"I am very happy to have the opportunity to race in Trois-Rivières. This is a very important place for the Toyota Atlantic Series because the race has so much history behind it," Garcia said about the ninth event of 12 for the season.
He added: "The set-up of the car will be very important. I haven't raced there, but I know there are some high speed areas, short turns and hairpins, so it is very important that everything works perfectly to score a fast lap. We are still looking for speed, as a team but I think we have found the resources for the results to start coming to us. The fans in Canada are very enthusiastic and we hope to reward their enthusiasm with a good finish."
Greg Sorrentino, Transnet Racing Team Manager said: "We just finished two successful days testing at Blackhawk, and Alex was very competitive. The track is very similar to a street circuit and that will help with the set-up for Trois-Rivières. We also have new mechanics working with the team, and they are working very well together. We didn't have any mechanical problems during the test, so we are very pleased".
Transnet Racing Team was found on 2002 and is based in Atlanta (GA).
The race will be broadcast, live on SPEED Channel, Sunday 4th, at 1 p.m. (EDT)
