Patrick takes third in qualifying at Trois Rivieres.

TROIS RIVIERES, QUEBEC . . .Team Rahal's Argent Mortgage Company driver Danica Patrick posted her best provisional qualifying result of the season by taking third in Friday qualifying for the Toyota Atlantic Championship event at Trois Rivieres. Patrick posted her fast lap of 91.181 mph late in the qualifying session on the 1.52-mile road course.

"This is a great start to the weekend," said Patrick. "We really made great strides at the last test and we just built on what we learned last week today. The car was good, but I think we can make it even better. I hope we have good weather tomorrow because I think with a couple of adjustments we have a front row car."

Patrick was fourth until Jonathan Macri crashed at the end of qualifying and sustained significant damage to his car. Macri's Polestar Atlantic team withdrew the primary car and entered their back-up which meant Macri forfeited his time moving Patrick to third.

Series points leader A.J. Allmendinger led the field in qualifying taking the provisional pole and the championship point with a fast lap of 92.343 mph.

Patrick will be vying to make her best start of the 2003 season. She started fifth in the season opener at Monterrey Mexico and she finished third.
