San Diego, CA (February 8, 2002) - Allen Berg, a native of Calgary, Canada and owner of Scuadra Fortia announced today that British engineer Stefan Dwornik will be engineering for his team for 2002 CART Toyota Atlantic season.
"I feel very proud to announce that Stefan Dwornik will be engineering for us for 2002 CART Toyota Atlantic season. He is an experienced engineer and hard worker. I think it's great that he is joining us," Berg said.
Mexican driver Eduardo Figueroa said: "I'm very happy that Stefan (Dwornik) is joining us. He not only takes care of the technical issues, he also takes care of his drivers and I will learn a lot from him in my maiden season in the CART Toyota Atlantic Series."
Figueroa's team mate, Argentinean Waldemar Coronas said: "After winning two consecutive championships in the ILP/Formula de las Americas Series, my goals in my first year in the Atlantic Series are to be competitive and to achieve the Rookie of the Year honors. I think Stefan's experience is going to be a key point to reach those goals."
Dwornik said: "I am really happy to join Scuadra Fortia. I know Allen (Berg) for long time ago and we share similar goals. I like his way of working, he is very professional. That's why it did not surprised me when his Mexican team (Scuadra Berg-Guerrero), won the drivers and teams titles in the ILP/Formula de las Americas Series. That makes me feel confident that I will be working in the right environment, having the right person heading our team."
He added: "I think we have a good combination of drivers (Waldemar Coronas and Eduardo Figueroa), who are looking forward to be at the wheel in the opener at Monterrey, Mexico as soon as possible. I think our maiden season will be unforgettable."
Dwornik, who has been in the business for about 27 years have worked with drivers such as: Memo Gidley, Alex Barron, Luis Garcia, Cory Witherall, Gualter Salles and Jeff Ward, among others. Also, he worked with several former FIA F1 drivers such as: Tommy Byrne, Bruno Giacomelli, Pedro Chaves, Gunnar Nilsson, Hans Stuck and Jochen Mass.
Also, Dwornik has several championships under his belt such as: three consecutive titles in the Tasman Series in New Zealand and a couple of Formula Atlantic Championships, plus several wins in the Indy Lights Series, the Tasman Series and the Formula Atlantic, too.
