Aggressive Driving Earns Hunter-Reay Another Top-Five Finish

Although he was disappointed by his ninth place starting position, Hunter-Reay drove a fantastic race, making up three positions on the first lap before passing two other drivers for position. He passed Rocky Moran Jr. at turn one for fourth place on lap 15 and ran a quick, consistent pace throughout the race. Fogarty was the target for third and Hunter-Reay picked him off with one lap to go. It looked as though a podium finish was a sure bet, until the final run to the checkered flag when he was blocked by a backmarker allowing Fogarty by for third place. Hunter-Reay finished the day fourth; his best result of the weekend and earned seven additional championship points.

Hunter-Reay on the Race:
"We really struggled with the car all weekend. For the race we decided to take a shot in the dark and Kyle (Brannan, engineer) made the right choices because the car was a lot better. My guys worked really hard all weekend and we decided to put our heads down and make sure that above all, we leave here with some points. I had a good start and was able to pick off a few guys through the race. Unfortunately a backmarker kind of blew it for us on the last lap there and it cost us a podium. John (Fogarty) and I had a good race, I really have to commend he and Rocky (Moran Jr.), they are clean racers and it is fun racing against them. I am excited for Chicago. My team has a very competitive history there and I know we have a good oval car. I have a lot of ambition to win on an oval after our mechanical failure in Milwaukee and I think we have a good shot."
