Niemela tied 2nd in Championship after Mont Tremblant

Finnish racecar driver, Markus Niemela, finished 2nd in Formula Atlantic Championship round 3 at Mont Tremblant, Canada. Markus had a trouble free race after he overtook Kevin Lacroix at the start for 2nd position, which he then held throughout the race, running right behind race winner Junior Strous.

The whole race weekend was good for Niemela regardless that the weather conditions were challenging during qualifying sessions.

Markus Niemela: "It was a great weekend overall - the car was working well all the time. I was slightly disappointed after second qualifying when I was unable to get traffic free laps in the rain at the end when conditions were getting faster. Anyway as the first qualifying was on dry that only cost me one position by the rules as the pole setter of the second qualifying. Fortunately I got this position back straightaway at the start."

At the moment, Markus has 67 points and is tied for 2nd position in the championship with Canadian James Hinchcliffe.

The next race of the Formula Atlantic championship will be held on July 25 and 26 in Edmonton, Canada.
