The second qualifying session for Junior Strous and Dominick Muermans (Condor Motorsports Team Holland) in the Atlantic Championship got underway early on Sunday morning. With no wind, a 90% humidity and 24ºC it felt very hot and humid and for the drivers not very comfortable. In this qualifying session all drivers set better times than yesterday. The first nine drivers qualified with one second; Junior Strous qualified 6th, Dominick Muermans 17th.
The 50 minutes race will start at 1.00 pm local time (GMT + 5 hrs).
Junior Strous: "I have not experienced this kind of heat before when driving. The qualifying is so close, it's great. The car is great and I am happy to start sixth on the grid. This is the danger zone but not a bad position to start the race in. You have to watch out for the first corner, there is a lot of dust on the track. If you get off the line there you're in trouble. A number of guys in front of me in the championship are behind me in the race. It will be interesting."
Dominick Muermans: "It went well. When I came over the hill, the car in front of me had slowed down. So I got a little too close to him and lost downforce. I went off the track and had to come in the get the grass removed. Yesterday the set-up was not good but today the car was great. This session I just had bad luck with the traffic. The track is not realy finished yet, no good run-off area's, no extra tarmac, just grassy bits. I went quicker today but still ended up further back on the grid. We'll see during the race."
