Sigma Autosport increases speed throughout the day.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Despite the overcast day, things are looking bright for the Sigma Autosport Toyota Atlantic team. After an incident in the morning session, Rocky Moran Jr. and the Sigma crew were able to manage improvements during the afternoon qualifying session to end the day with encouragement.

During the morning session, Moran had an incident in the pits when another car pulled out in front of him causing damage to his front wing. As a result, he was not able to get as many laps. In the afternoon session, he played a little bit of "catch up" and was able to get in a good run.

Moran's fastest time during qualifying was 80.390 seconds, for a top speed of 88.130 mph. That time was nearly three seconds faster than his morning practice time.

Final qualifying for Toyota-Atlantics is set for 1 p.m., Saturday.

Quotes

"We are a little bit off right now basically. During the morning session we had an incident in pit lane when someone hit the front of our car damaging the front wing. As a result, we had to play some catch up. Right now, we're just trying to find the right set up for this track and we will have to change some things. We made a big jump that session, we were two seconds quicker, so things are looking good." - Rocky Moran Jr., Sigma Autosport Driver
