Long Beach, CA - April 14, 2002: Venezuelan driver Alex Garcia scored the first Toyota Atlantic Championship point of his rookie season at the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix by finishing in 15th position. The race took place on the famous temporary street course in Long Beach, California.

"Since warm up this morning we knew we had problems with the clutch," said Garcia. "The situation became worse during the race but we finished and our balance is positive. There were some accidents in front of me, but fortunately I was able to avoid them and continue ahead until the checkered flag."

After an extremely competitive race, Greg Sorrentino, Transnet Racing's Team Manager said: "The balance of the race is good. It was very difficult to drive the car with the clutch slipping, but Alex noticed the problem early and took the car to the finish line. Finishing a race like that in the top-15 is very good for the team. In spite of the problems, we earned our first point. For Alex, this race was a new experience he will use in the future."

Alex Garcia, driving car #8, started the Long Beach race in 23rd position. The race was 29 laps and was on a street circuit with 11 turns and 1.968 miles in length.

Transnet Racing was established in 2002 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).

The next Toyota Atlantic Championship race will take place in Milwaukee (WI), on June 2nd.
