LAZZARO QUICK IN INITIAL ATLANTIC TESTS
WILLOWS, Ca. (Dec. 16) - - Anthony Lazzaro, of Acworth, Ga., took the track for his first test with the Platinum Sound Racing at Thunderhill Race Park over the weekend. It was Lazzaro's first time visiting Thunderhill Race Park and his first venture in a Ralt RT-41. Despite cold and extremely windy conditions, he was pleased with a track time best of 64.027-seconds. "This was really just a chance to get everybody acclimated," Lazzaro said. "It was very low key, but I liked the RT-41 much better than the '40' I drove last year. We ran the entire weekend with used tires and we worked on getting properly fitted to the car." Lazzaro's quickest time came on Sunday morning with temperatures in the mid-50's and winds that had diminished from Saturday's gale force gusts. "This is one of the most physically demanding tracks I've been to," said Lazzaro. "Since I haven't been in a car since September, my neck became a little sore. Regardless, were still able to stay consistently in the 64-second range. I had a couple of spins on the oldest tires and we found a small problem with the rear sway bar mount when we were set to go out on fresh tires. Since the engine was near the end of its mileage, there wasn't any sense in wasting the tires when the sway bar problem would have prevented us from running any better. "I was really pleased with the team. Everyone is giving a good job and there is good chemistry between us. Now I'm just going to get my neck in better shape and perfect the seat fitting before we test next in the primary car at Buttonwillow." Lazzaro's next testing session is tentatively scheduled for January 15, following his IMSA testing at Daytona International Speedway, where he will run a Porsche Boxster and 911 in the 24 Hours of Daytona.
