"Cool Moves"

Port-a-Cool driver, John Brooks, has been putting some rather "cool moves" on the track these past two races. At Mid-Ohio, he qualified a disappointing 21st, then had to move to the back of the grid to start on new tires. At the standing start, Brooks kept his "cool" and quietly moved up to 15th by the end of the first couple laps. Even following a spin, he remained at 16th until his motor problems returned and he exited the race early. 11 spots in only 2 laps!

At Road America, his 20th place qualifying spot was replaced by a pit road start, due to a questionable front tire. After his crew (with a little help from fellow competitor Joe Sposato's crew ) double checked, he was out just behind the rest of the cars, but now in 32nd! By the first yellow he was in 27th and by the second yellow, he was 18th! 14 spots in only 4 green laps!

An SCCA official noted, "We know John is capable of much more and we look forward to having him back in '98. His previous results in Atlantic speak for themselves." Port-a-Cool vice president and honorary crew person, Rick Campbell, said "If there's not an award for hard charging, there should be and my driver earned it! We're really pleased with John's efforts, on and off the track, for Port-a-Cool. " John added "I'd like to thank Joe Sposato's crew, especially Bruce, for helping out at Road America. When I had to come in before the start, he was right there to lend a hand. I appreciate the help."

Port-a-Cool will be extending its special offer for all participants at Laguna Seca. Check out the red Port-a-Cool in John's paddock area at Vancouver - teams can now order their team colors!
