Hylton Motorsports ran its first two races of the 2000 Toyota Atlantic Series this past weekend in Homestead, Florida, showing a promising season with a podium finish. Hylton Motorsports drivers Brazilian Hoover Orsi, former 1999 F3 Brazilian Champion and Canadian sensation Kuno Whittmer II, former Canadian Rally Car Champion, showed they will be strong contenders for rookie of the year in the 2000 Toyota Atlantic's Championship. This will be Hylton Motorsports 3rd year in Toyota Atlantic's. Keith Hylton, team owner is very excited about his two young driving phonemes. They showed this past weekend that they have the ability and speed to dominate the season.
Hylton Motorsports driver Hoover Orsi started Saturday's race in the 12th position and quickly moved up through the pack, passing Rocky Moran JR on the final lap to take Hylton Motorsports to a 3rd place podium finish for the first round of the double-header race weekend. Orsi, started Sunday's race on the outside of the front row in the second position. He quickly moved into the lead on the seventh lap by passing Buddy Rice. Orsi, ran strong leading five laps of the race until an electrical problem would side line him on lap 24.
Kuno Whittier II gained valuable race experience in his first two races this season. Whittmer II ran a strong race on Saturday said Keith Hylton, it was unfortunate he was involved in an incident as he was just beginning to show his strong driving ability. Whittmer II finished in 18th position in his De Sigi Toyota powered swift on Sunday, one lap behind the leaders because of a flat rear tire. Whittmer II, is the grandson of the Canadian rally champion Kun Whittmer, I.
Hylton Motorsports will be running both cars at Long Beach on April 15, 2000. Keith Hylton said both drivers look very promising and we are excited for their street course debut in Long Beach.
