Ryan Hunter-Reay again set fastest time in the afternoon session for the Toyota Atlantic Championship, with a lap time of 24.994 (148.644 mph.) His Hylton Motorsports teammate, Roger Yusakawa, who was just slower than Hunter-Reay in the morning session, fell to third in the afternoon behind World Speed Motorsports' Alex Figge. All three top drivers, and fourth-fastest Waldemar Coronas are series rookies. Veteran Rodolfo Lavin was fifth.

David Wieringa substantially damaged the left side of his car with a solid hit of the wall at the exit of Milwaukee's turn 1. Wieringa, who had turned the 9th-fastest time of the session prior to the incident, was uninjured and will return on Saturday after extensive repairs to his Swift-Toyota.
