Fogarty wins provisional pole as Dorricott dominates

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin - The three cars of Dorricott racing dominated today's first qualifying session for the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship series race at Road America as Jon Fogarty set the provisional pole position with a new track record lap of 201.110 seconds (120.327 mph.) Fogarty's teammate Luis Diaz held the top spot for most of the session , until he took it away at the very end of the period. The third Dorricott driver, Alex Gurney, held second place until Fogarty's record lap knocked him back to third.

Fourth in the session was points leader Michael Valiante, where he resided for most of the session. Valiante's teammate at Lynx Racing, Grant Ryley, was was fifth fastest until the last lap, when Waldemar Coronas and Rocky Moran Jr. turned sub-2:02 laps to move Ryley back to seventh. The remainder of the top ten times were turned in by Joey Hand, Ryan Dalziel and Aaron Justus.

Second in points, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and his Hylton Motorsports teaammate Roger Yasukawa struggled today, Yasukawa turning the 12th fastest time and and Hunter-Reay 14th.
