Yasukawa set his fastest time of the weekend during qualifying this afternoon, when he ran a 2:02.674 minute lap at 118.793 mph around the picturesque 4-mile road course. Yasukawa was one of 13 cars to run on the rain-drenched track during intermittent thunderstorms in this mornings practice session. He returned to the track this afternoon and sat in the fourth position for the first 20 minutes of the 30-minute qualifying session. Yasukawa's time was the ninth fastest of the session, and he gained a posi tion on the grid for tomorrows 17 lap race.

Yasukawa on Friday Qualifying:
"We are working on the balance of the car. The level of grip is much different than we expected. Straight line speed is very important here, we are okay in that area, but we could use just a little bit of work there. We are not that far from where we need to be, we just need to work on the bits and pieces and we should be much better tomorrow."

Yasukawa on Saturday Qualifying:
"We made improvements to the car last night, but I didn't get a draft and that is pretty important at this track. We will make a few more minor changes to the car tonight for warm up tomorrow and make another decision for the race after that. The track was definitely not as good today as yesterday because of all of the rain this morning, it washed off some of the rubber, but it was still ok."
