Ricci Finishes in Top Five at the First Race of the Double-Header Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton
After repairs to his car, Matt Lee is able to finish the race in 12th place
It was a top-five finish for Giacomo Ricci at the first race of a double header weekend at the Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton. He had a good start of the race and was able to battle his way to fourth place, he ultimately lost that position to Wickens but was able to hold on the rest of the race and finish in fifth. The fifth place finish for Ricci marks his fourth consecutive top-six result which began with a fourth place run in Cleveland and remains fifth in the Championship standings and third in the Rookie of the Year standings.
During the morning session for the second race of the weekend, Matt Lee had crashed his car with just minutes left in the qualifying. The Conquest Racing team worked diligently to get the #44 car ready for the race and he was able to finish in the race in 12th position. After the second qualifying session was run, Giacomo Ricci will start Sunday's race in 6th position and Matt Lee will start in 17th position.

"After this morning's qualifying I was feeling a little bit faster," said Ricci. "But during the race today I didn't feel as confident. I am still learning a lot about racing on the streets so I struggle a bit from time to time. At the end of the day today I had a pretty good race. I finished fifth and started sixth which was good. I have another opportunity to start sixth again for tomorrow's race so I hope that I can improve my performance and end the second event on the podium."

"It has been a long day for us today," said Lee. "I messed up this morning in the second qualifying session and put the car into the wall. I started 15th today and just wanted to move up as much as I could. I was up to 10th at one point but went off track which dropped me back. I finally fought my way to twelfth place and I think today's race was the most difficult battle I have ever had for that position. I do want to thank my crew because they had to repair the car in between qualifying and the race today. Hopefully tomorrow's race will prove to be a better event for us."
Steve Ragan, Conquest Racing Atlantic Team Manager
"Both Giacomo and Matt fought hard for their final positions at today's race," said Steve Ragan, Conquest Racing Atlantic Team Manager. "Ricci did a great job of keeping Edwards from taking that top-five position away from him and Lee had quite a battle to earn his twelfth place finish. The team worked very hard to get the #44 car ready to race after the crash this morning and while it was not back to one hundred percent, we'll definitely have it ready for tomorrow's race."
