Dalziel, Sierra Sierra Enterprises Team Penalized for Failing to Meet Atlantic Series Shock Requirements

DENVER, Colorado (August 12, 2004) --Series officials from the Toyota Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama announced today that driver Ryan Dalziel (#28 ProWorks) and his Sierra Sierra Enterprises team have been penalized for failing to comply with series-mandated specifications on shock absorbers.

During a post-race technical inspection on the #28 car following last weekend's victory by Dalziel at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, officials discovered that an internal part of the car's shocks was measured and found to be outside of the specified tolerance. A decision on the penalty was delayed until today while series representatives consulted with the manufacturer on the part in question.

Pursuant to Chapter 10.8 and 10.9 of the 2004 Toyota Atlantic rule book, Dalziel has been penalized five points from his season total for the violation. The Scottish driver now has 228 points for the season, leaving him 11 points behind series point leader Jon Fogarty (#96 Pacific Coast Motorsports/Umbrella Entertainment) in the championship chase entering this weekend's Argent Mortgage Toyota Atlantic Championship of Denver Presented by Yokohama. The Sierra Sierra team has also been fined $15,000 for the infraction.
