Alex Garcia finished 17th in Cleveland.

Cleveland (Ohio, United States) July 14th, 2002. Venezuelan Alex Garcia, driver of the Transnet Racing Toyota Atlantic #8 race car, finished 17th in the eighth race of the competitive Toyota Atlantic Championship. The race was held over 32 laps in the Burke Lakefront temporary road course, in Cleveland.

García, who started the race in 21st position, said: "I am very happy because we finished this race. The last races we experienced some mechanical problems and the result this weekend is very good for the team. We still have some balance problems and there is a lot of room for improvement. We will keep working to reach our goals."

Greg Sorrentino, Transnet Racing general manager said: "We are certainly very happy because we finished the race. This result brings helps the morale of the team. Alex started the race in 21st position, and at the start of the race overtook several cars and got up to 15th. We still have a lot of work ahead of us. Our next step will be a three-day test in Michigan. That test will help us with the set-up for the next race.

Transnet Racing was founded in 2002 and is based in Atlanta (GA).

The next race will be in the Tríos-Rivieres street circuit in Quebec, Canada, August 4th.
