DRIVER QUOTES FOLLOWING FINAL QUALIFYING

#66 ALEXANDRE TAGLIANI (Player's Forsythe Racing Team-Player's/Indeck) "I'm thrilled with having won my first Atlantic pole. The team gave me a great car. We wanted to try a different set up this afternoon as there will be no warm up session tomorrow morning. At first, I was not as fast as this morning, but towards the end of the session, it was getting better. By then it was too late to clock fast times. Tomorrow will be a compromise between this morning's and this afternoon's set-ups. This should give us a great race car." (Francois Cartier)

#19 MEMO GIDLEY (Lynx Racing) "The conditions of the track changed and was actually a little slower, but I managed to improve my time. Unfortunately, it was only half of what I needed to take the pole, but a front row start is good and the car is handling very well, so I'm expecting a good finish for Lynx Racing. Of course, I'm sure the team will be here until midnight making a dozen minor improvements, but I have a lot of faith in these guys and am sure the car will be even better." (Peter Frey)

#33 BERTRAND GODIN (Player's Forsythe Racing Team-/Player's/Indeck) "I had problems with the gearbox as the gears kept popping out. I over revved the engine over and over again. This problem made me lose what could have been my best time during the last lap. The gear popped out in the chicane as I was completing a terrific lap." (Francois Cartier)

#10 MARK TAGUE (World Speed Motorsports-Altec/Liaison Software Co.) "I'm really pleased at the amount of progress we made. Traffic was great, but I never got to draft with anyone. I looked for it, but never got hooked up. Tomorrow I just want to stay out of trouble and get through any melee that might develop." (Pam Morey)

#14 CHUCK WEST (World Speed Motorsports-Red Line Oil/Martini Sunglasses/Harvest Group) "The car is great. We did about four or five laps and then I saw smoke and smelled oil. It's too bad because the car was really strong - best it had been all weekend. It's much more manageable and not so active. It'll be a good car for the race. On the bright side, we know the car is really close and I never had a tow on the straight-away. You can't get into the low nines without a draft." (Pam Morey)

#4 ANTHONY LAZZARO (Phillips Motorsports-Platinum Sound/BG Products/Budget Car & Truck Rental) "The qualifying session didn't go quite as planned. The first session we ran old tires from practice yesterday and we ran new tires for this session. I was worried about the conditions of the track after the Trans Am race. I know after the Trans Am race the track becomes very greasy and the weather was cooling down because we ran so late. I didn't know if the cooler temperatures, which actually ad grip and horsepower, would be enough to overcome the grease and rubber they put down. I went a little bit faster but so did quite a few other people. Overall I think the track was a little bit faster."

#50 KENNY WILDEN (P-1 Racing-TrizecHahn/Slick 50) "It's been a tough two qualifying sessions for us especially after coming out of Montreal. We can't seem to find the balance between springs and wing set up. So we're going to have to hope we have a good car for the race tomorrow and stay out of trouble."

#43 JOAO BARBOSA (RDS Motorsports-Toyota of Portugal/Sega of Portugal/Caetano Buses) "This session went pretty well. The car was much better than this morning. I think we're going to be fast in the race. This is a nice track to drive, but it's a little too bumpy. These last few races I've been a little unlucky, but today I showed exactly what I could do, and were I should be. Its over now! Watch out tomorrow!"

#29 CASE MONTGOMERY (Binder Racing-Microsoft/Wall Data/Compaq/Tandem) "Well, the traffic was pretty good. There's enough space out there where you can get clean space if you use your head. But something is wrong with the car structurally. It's a flexible flyer. I'll have to make a big move at the start. It would help if the first four rows would take each other out, but thats just the frustration of the weekend coming out. The start will be my best bet for making up positions because I just can't run with the guys up front." (Pam Morey)

#96 JERET SCHROEDER (P.P.I.-MCI Racing) "After running fifth in this morning's session I thought we would have done better in this session. We made some changes to the car but unfortunately with Chris (Smith) being in the hospital, we weren't able to go in two different directions with two cars. I had to do the bulk of the work. We tried some things and a couple worked and a couple didn't work. We are heading in the right direction now and things should go really well for tomorrow." (Sharon Villanueva)
