CHUCK WEST EAGER FOR TROIS-RIVIERES TURNAROUND

SONOMA, Calif. (July 28) - - Chuck West ventures north of the border again this weekend for the Player’s Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres. He is hoping to have put the bad experience of Toronto behind him and turn his KOOL Toyota Atlantic season in a positive direction. "I hope we left the ‘qualifying monster’ at Toronto," said West in reference to the incident involving a C2 driver that crashed into his disabled car at the end of the first qualifying session. West was on the pole at the time of the incident. "This is another street course, so I’m looking forward to learning a new track," said West. I love this type of track and I’m anxious to get to Trois-Rivieres because it looks like a beautiful city that is rich in history. It certainly has a great deal of racing heritage for the KOOL Toyota Atlantic series. "We found that we were quick at Toronto - another track I’ve never seen before. That was one of the good things from an otherwise disappointing weekend. There was another good half of qualifying in the car before we got hit, so we would have probably been able to start further up on the grid. We tested two days at Shannonville after Toronto and then I returned to California to run my drivers in the Star Mazda series at Laguna Seca. The test was very productive on the first day. We were able to experiment with some suspension gadgets and new aerodynamics. We found more speed and we were about to refine the set-up when we found a crack in the oil tank. The crack was compliments of the incident at Toronto. At least we found it in testing and not during this weekend’s qualifying. Maybe we’ll be able to head off the ‘qualifying monster.’ "My Mazda drivers finished first, second , and third place at Laguna, so maybe that result will follow us to Trois-Rivieres."
