Alex Garcia will race in Chicago.

Atlanta (GA). June 25th, 2002. Next Sunday, June 30th, Transnet Racing and their Venezuelan driver, Alex Garcia, will compete in the sixth race of the Toyota Atlantic Championship at the oval track at Sportsman Park in Chicago. The race will mark the midpoint of the season, which began in Monterrey, Mexico and will end in Denver, Colorado (USA) in August.

"I feel confident that Chicago will be positive for us," said Alex Garcia. "Portland was bitter-sweet because we did have several mechanical issues, however, the car was the best that it has been so far. I know that the guys and I will be able to build on the momentum from Portland and keep moving forward."

Alex Garcia and the team, have taken advantage of the time off between Portland and Chicago to work intensely to get the car ready. In spite of their experience in Portland, where they were not able to race due to engine problems, the team continues developing their planned program.

Greg Sorrentino, General Manager of Transnet Racing said: "This week, before traveling to Chicago for the race, the team will conduct tests to fine tune the set up of the car. We are working extremely hard and are taking this time off between Portland and Chicago to improve the car. We feel positive and are waiting to compete on the oval in Chicago."

After having held races for two weekends on road circuits (Laguna Seca and Portland), the Toyota Atlantic series will return to an oval track in Chicago (1.029 miles). The race will take place on Sunday, June 30th at 1 P.M. (Eastern Standard Time).
