Champ Car Moves Date of Monterrey, Mexico Race to Sunday, May 22

INDIANAPOLIS (February 11, 2005) -- The Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford today announced that it was moving the date of the Tecate/Telmex Monterrey Grand Prix back to May 22, 2005; the date on which it was originally scheduled. The date moved back to Sunday to alleviate potential conflicts with playoff action in the Liga Mexicana soccer season.

"We will do anything that we can in order to help our valued promoters in Mexico and in turn, to help the many Champ Car fans in Mexico that want to come see our race," said Champ Car President Dick Eidswick. "By moving the race back to Sunday, we can give our Mexican fans a chance to experience a full weekend of Champ Car racing, so we are happy to do it."

The Tecate/Telmex Monterrey Grand Prix will be the second race of the 2005 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season and will be run on the 2.104-mile temporary road course in Fundidora Park. Reigning series champion Sebastien Bourdais will return to Mexico as the defending race winner in Monterrey after taking victory from the pole a year ago.

"We are very happy to have the Monterrey race back on Sunday," said Motorsports Director OCESA/CIE, Federico Alaman. "I'm convinced that this is better for the fans and we worked with Champ Car for the change so that they'll have a better opportunity to enjoy the race while they support our Mexican drivers as well as our soccer teams."

Television details concerning the event will be released in the coming weeks.
