Boca Raton, FL -- April 4, 2001 -- Tyco International Ltd. and ADT Security Services, a part of the Company's Tyco Fire & Security Services unit, today announced sponsorship of CasselRacing and its Racing to Make a Difference Dream Development (RMDDD) program for America's youth. Tyco and ADT made the sponsorship announcement in conjunction with the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship Series beginning its 2001 season in Long Beach, California this week. The CART Toyota Atlantic Championship is one of the world's richest open-wheel development series and is a key rung on CART's ladder system. Tyco and ADT's sponsorship of DeWayne Cassel signals a breakthrough in auto racing history marking the first time an African-American driver has obtained full financial backing in the CART Toyota Atlantic series.

Cassel has been racing for 10 years but until now has never been fully sponsored by an international organization.

"This is an exciting day for CasselRacing because it symbolizes all that we stand for in the messages we are trying to convey to the nation's youth through our Dream Development program," said CasselRacing Owner and Driver, DeWayne Cassel.

"As an African-American, it has been a challenge to develop a professional motorsports organization and obtain support. But as I say to young people, when you dare to dream of breaking barriers and achieving your goals, you take the first step to making them real. I am grateful that Tyco and ADT are committed to supporting unique organizations like mine," Cassel added.

The RMDDD program, a youth outreach initiative, was developed by Cassel and dedicated to the advancement of today's youth. "We will use auto-racing, an international platform, as a tool to inspire and motivate underprivileged youth. This program is designed to enrich their lives by providing exposure to the world of motorsports," said Cassel. Cassel developed this program in his hometown of Peoria, IL. Now, support from Tyco and ADT will enable Cassel to bring his vision and message to young people in other cities across the nation.

According to the Corporate Director of Diversity for Tyco International (US) Inc., Rueben Stokes, Tyco is honored to support Cassel's organization and his vision for challenging America's youth to exceed their boundaries.

"One of our strengths as a global corporation lies in the diversity of our people. So we consider it our responsibility to create unique environments that nurture and encourage people to produce at their highest levels," said Stokes.

"DeWayne Cassel's Dream Development program for youth is an example of how an individual with a dream, determination and hard work can make a difference," Stokes continued.

ADT Security Services President Mike Snyder adds, "CasselRacing and the barrier-breaking work they are doing with youth deserve our support and attention. We are pleased to partner with Cassel in his mission to reach out to young people in communities across the nation."
