Alex Garcia tested his car in Milwaukee
Atlanta (Georgia), May 21st. Venezuelan, Alex Garcia, driver for the Transnet Racing Team competing in the Toyota Atlantic Championship, just wrapped up a two day test at the Milwaukee Mile, the site of the next race of the highly competitive series.
After finishing the test, Garcia said: "I am very pleased with the results from our two day test at The Milwaukee Mile. This was my first outing with our new crew chief Eduardo Aguilar and new engineer Bryan Jones, both of whom are great assets to the team, proven by the results we obtained from this test."
He added: "The car was by far, the best it has been to date. I drove the car for two days without a problem. This was my first time in the Atlantic car on a one mile oval and only the second time ever, so this was very different from driving the F2000 car at Phoenix and definitely more fun! The car handled very well around the tight oval. I want to thank my crew and Bryan for giving me a great car and allowing me to get out there and experience the car with so many different set-ups; I learned a lot during the test.."
Greg Sorrentino, Team Manager of Transnet Racing, said: "It was our first test on an oval track, as well as the first time we have worked with two new members of our team, Eduardo and Bryan, who have begun their long term commitments with Transnet Racing."
"In general," continued Sorrentino, "the test went well. The temperature stayed at 40-41 degrees, which prevented the tires from reaching their ideal temperature quickly, plus it was very windy. The team used the 008 chassis, and the times were very competitive. The 014 chassis will be tested for the first time next week, just before the race, with basically the same setup."
Transnet Racing will return to The Milwaukee Mile on Thursday, May 30th to compete in the third round of the Toyota Atlantic Championship on Sunday, June 2nd.
