OAK Racing takes pole in 3 Hours of Fuji qualifying

Cong Fu Cheng from OAK Racing drove fantastically to seal pole position with a fastest lap time of 1'34.253

This morning saw Asian Le Mans Series teams take part in Free Practice 2 and Qualifying for the 2013 3 Hours of Fuji at Fuji Speedway in Japan.

Free Practice 2 finished similarly to Free Practice 1 with KCMG top of LM P2 (P1 overall), followed again by OAK Racing. Cars Tokai Dream28 topped the SUPER GT teams, Craft Racing were first in GTC, and Taisan Ken Endless led GTE. All teams were again separated by the slightest of margins, which set the scene for a very exciting Qualifying session.

This afternoon's Qualifying did not disappoint as Cong Fu Cheng from OAK Racing drove fantastically to seal pole position (and top of LM P2) with the French team's #24 Morgan-Judd with a fastest lap time of 1'34.253.

China's KCMG Qualified just 0.058 seconds behind OAK Racing as Richard Bradley recorded a fastest lap time of 1'34.311 in their #18 Morgan-Nissan - P2 on the grid and second in LM P2.

P3 on the grid was SUPER GT's TEAM MUGEN who had a fastest lap time of 1'38.241 in their #16 Honda CR-Z (ZF-2) - driven by Hideki Mutoh.

Top of the GTC teams was Hong Kong's Craft Racing with a fastest lap time of 1'39.520 in their #007 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 - driven by Richard Lyons (P11 overall).

The first GTE team was Japan's Taisan Ken Endless in their #70 Ferrari 458 GTE. Akira Iida recorded a fastest lap time of 1'41.399 (P17 overall). With all teams recording very quick times in Qualifying and the competition getting closer and closer all teams will now be making their final preparations in order to produce their best performance of the week in tomorrow's race. Everyone now eagerly awaits Round 2 of the 2013 Asian Le Mans Series to get underway.
