Asian Le Mans Series Michelin partner for the 2015/2016 season
Michelin renews its confidence in the Asian Le Mans Series.
For the third year in a row the French manufacturer will be the Series’ official tyre supplier.
The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) is happy to announce its partnership with Michelin for the Series’ exclusive tyre supply and especially after taking over the organisation of the Asian Le Mans Series. As a highly strategic territory within the context of their respective development, Asia represents for Michelin and the ACO the perfect field to promote their respective products and disciplines, which share the common characteristics of endurance and performance.
The 2015/2016 Asian Le Mans Series season counts four events as follows:
Fuji (Japan) : 10 October 2015 within the prestigious setting of the 6th FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) event.
Sepang (Malaysia) : 8 November 2015
Buriram (Thailand) : 10 January 2016
Sepang (Malaysia) : 24 January 2016
Patrick Dias, Michelin Asia-Pacific Motorsport Director: " We are very pleased to announce that Michelin will continue as a partner of the Asian Le Mans Series for the 2015-2016 racing season. The Asian Le Mans Series is a great way to promote Asia Pacific Motorsports outside Asia and the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans is a good example where drivers who raced in the Asian Le Mans Series managed to achieve excellent results, for example winning the LM P2 category. It is a great way to promote and demonstrate the quality of Michelin's products and their "Total Performance" capabilities that are so important in endurance racing.
These include grip, wear, durability and fuel saving and all of these are possible without compromising safety or lap times. With a new championship format over 2 calendar years (2015-2016), the Asian Le Mans Series will establish an even more significant role within the Asian motorsports scene. Michelin is completely in agreement with the ACO's strategy to develop Endurance racing on each continent in order to reinforce the FIA World Endurance Championship, as well as its flagship race the 24 Hours of Le Mans, by attracting entries from a wider range of teams and drivers from all over the world ".
Cyrille Taesch Wahlen, Asian LMS Operations Manager: "This partnership is a nice show of trust from Michelin as well as a strong message in the year the ACO recovers the series. It is a major asset for the Asian Le Mans Series to be able to count on the Michelin experience and records in endurance racing especially after their victory in the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours. "
