The penultimate round of the 2014 season will not take place.
What was supposed to be the penultimate round of the 2014 Asian Le Mans Series championship has been removed from the calendar. The Three Hours of Buriram that was supposed to take place at Buriram International Circuit next month has been pulled.
That means just four races will be run this season, which sadly goes well with the single-digit grid we've been accustomed to seeing in 2014. The photo seen above is actually a start shot from this past weekend's race.
In a release, the series said, "After consultation with teams and stakeholders, organizers of the Asian Le Mans Series have made the decision to remove the Thailand race from 2014 calendar in order to focus on delivering a successful final race in Sepang as well as being well prepared for 2015 season."
"The provisional calendar for 2015 will be announced shortly which will show improvements in scheduling along with a number of strategic changes that will enhance the efficiency and attractiveness of the Series with the clear goal of increasing numbers of the grid."
