Craft-Bamboo Racing Driver, Darryl O’Young, continued the Darryl O’Young ‘Race to Win!’ School Tour this afternoon, which is supported by VLT (Vita Lemon Tea). He visited the Mrs Fung Wong Fung Ting College in Shatin to address 500 secondary students. O’Young has been traveling to each school to deliver a motivational speech to students, promoting the ‘Race to Win!’ spirit.

Ranging from form two to form five, the students listened intently to O’Young’s speech, which detailed how he overcame many challenges in his career to become a professional race driver. The championship winning driver hopes that his story will be able to inspire students to dream big, set goals and work hard to take steps to achieve them.

Fantastic listeners

“I am promoting the ‘Race to Win!’ spirit which is all about setting goals, working hard and taking the necessary steps to reach them. It is also about overcoming any challenges that stand between yourself and your goals. I have been using my career as a racing driver to demonstrate to the students that it is possible to achieve your dreams if you work hard enough. So far the students have been fantastic listeners but also very vocal in finding out what they can do to make their dreams a reality. Through this promotion, I hope to also inspire young people to take an interest in motorsport and hopefully this will encourage the next generation of Hong Kong drivers.” Said the three time Macau Grand Prix race winner.

Today marked the third Tung Wah Group of Hospitals secondary school that O’Young has attended, adding his total reach to over 1000 students to date. After O’Young’s speech was finished, a question and answer session began and the students didn’t hold back. Students of all ages were keen to quiz the Hong Kong driver on various motorsport topics, but also about how he thought they could achieve their own personal goals.

O’Young’s future stars

It was then time for the students to get some first-hand motorsport experience on the two simulators provided by the non-profit kids karting program, VLT Presents: O’Young’s Future Stars. Understandably, this proved to be a great draw for the children and left them buzzing with excitement. It is this energy and enthusiasm that O’Young wants to encourage so that students will work hard and accomplish something that is important to them.

VLT is the proud title sponsor of, Darryl O’Young and Daniel Lloyd, who compete in the #99 Craft-Bamboo Racing Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 in the GT Asia Series.

O’Young will be completing his tour of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals secondary schools visiting three more secondary schools in the months of October and November.
