Frenchman Michel Disdier Finishes With an Impressive Top-15
TOLEDO, Ohio --Michel Disdier returned to Toledo Speedway with an impressive top-15 finish Friday night. ARCA's hometown short track was the site for the ARCA 200 presented by Federated and Belle Tire.
The Nice, France native has a high comfort level for this track and was very excited about returning here for a solid run. "Toledo Speedway is probably one of my favorite tracks to race on," said Disdier. "I feel very comfortable on this track. I have high expectations at Toledo. I also love all the contact that you have with the fans. It's great seeing all the same fans coming back."
After a successful top-20 race at Toledo in May, hopes were high for a great finish and exciting race. Disdier's qualifying lap of 16.688 seconds put the No. 21 18th on the starting grid. He made his qualifying attempt in a Ford fielded by the long-time ARCA RE/MAX Series team Bowsher Motorsports.
With short track racing comes excitement, skilled driving and of course cautions. The ARCA 200 presented by Federated and Belle Tire on Friday night September 4th was no exception! The yellow flag dropped for the first of many times on lap 19. The decision was made to keep the Bowsher Motorsports machine on the track for the first couple cautions.
The yellow was displayed once again on lap 50 and this time the No. 21 Ford took advantage and rolled down pit road. The Bowsher Motorsports team made a routine pit stop for tires, fuel and minor adjustment. He was back on the track and determined to gain track position.
Disdier headed down pit road for another routine stop on lap 89. After fresh tires and a tank full of gas, he was off to join the field for more excitement packed short track racing! Powered by a Rhyne Racing engine, Disdier started making his way toward the front of the field. After another quick caution on lap 101, Disdier restarted 11th and continued to charge his way to the front of the pack. The No. 21 Bowsher Motorsports Ford did not move out of the top 15 from that point to the checkered.
Battling for position and successfully avoiding wrecks, Disdier took the checkered flag in the 15th position on the lead lap.
"This is just what we needed," stated Disdier after the race. "We deserved this race! We stayed in the top 15 almost the entire race, we had great pit stops and we came home with a clean race car. We are in line with what we want to do. I am surrounded by good people who believe in me. I am very excited for the future!"
The next event for Michel Disdier and the Bowsher Motorsports team will be the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic at Salem Speedway Saturday September 19.
