ARCA Champs Honored at Toledo Speedway for ARCA Championship Weekend
TOLEDO OH (10-16-07)--ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion Frank Kimmel and ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series Champion Bill Withers both officially clinched the titles for their respective series this weekend, but the two newly crowned champions were not the only drivers honored at Toledo Speedway. As part of ARCA's Championship Weekend festivities, more than 50 ARCA champions were formally acknowledged during pre-race ceremonies before Sunday's Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire ARCA RE/MAX Series race. The list included drivers from various ARCA touring series, including RE/MAX, Lincoln Welders Trucks and Midgets, as well as drivers from ARCA's two short tracks, Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways.
Marks Caps Off 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Season with Top-10 Finish
Justin Marks finished seventh in Sunday's Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire to post his eighth consecutive top-10 finish of the 2007 race season. The finish allowed him to become the only driver this season to earn eight consecutive top-tens. In addition to the ARCA RE/MAX Series, Marks competed in Saturday's Champion Credit Union 50 ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series race, where he earned a career-first oval track victory in a truck fielded by Norm and Gene Weaver.
McDowell Earns Pole, Win at Toledo
Michael McDowell capped off his 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season with a SIM Factory Pole award and a race win at Toledo Speedway, allowing him to become the series' leader in poles (nine) and race wins (four) this season. McDowell joins Frank Kimmel as one of only two drivers that have posted nine or more pole awards during a single season of competition over the last 22 years of ARCA competition. Kimmel earned 11 pole awards in 2001 and has 40 career poles, the last of which came at Pocono Raceway on July 22, 2006.
Interesting Kimmel Stat
Frank Kimmel is the ARCA RE/MAX Series' all-time superspeedway lap leader, with 2,608 laps-led in 78 races, yet in his quest for the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship, Kimmel only led three laps in speedway competition. Of the 260 laps that Frank Kimmel led this season (which is third to McDowell and Brian Keselowski for the overall season), Kimmel's lone speedway laps at the top of the leader board this season occurred at Pocono Raceway on June 9th.
Bowsher Earns Hoosier Hard Charger Honors at Toledo
The Bowsher family name is synonymous with success in ARCA RE/MAX Series competition at Toledo Speedway. Bobby Bowsher has five victories at the .5-mile track and Tom Bowsher is a four-time winner at Toledo. On Sunday, series veteran Todd Bowsher proved that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, working his way up from a 23rd starting position to a sixth place finish in the Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire to earn Hoosier Tire Hard Charger Honors in the No. 21 AmericanConsumerCables.com Ford. The finish bested a pair of 10th place finishes at Toledo, which Bowsher earned in 2006 and 2002.
Young Field at Toledo
The top-four finishers in Sunday's Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire at Toledo Speedway-Michael McDowell, James Buescher, Michael Simko and Marc Davis--have a combined average age of 20.5 years-old. This is less than half the age of fifth-place finisher and nine-time series champ Frank Kimmel, who is 45 years old.
Buescher, who finished second and led 27 laps at Toledo, earned an ARCA RE/MAX Series victory at USA Int'l Speedway in Lakeland, Florida on March 24th at the age of 16, becoming the youngest winner in the 55-year history of the national stock car tour.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is the National Championship Awards Banquet at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Kentucky on December 8th, 2007. Tickets are available (734) 847-6726.
