"ASA Superstar Looking For Another Stunning Run"
TOLEDO, Ohio (October 9, 2008) - - ASA Late Model Series driver Andy Hanson made an impressive debut for Win-Tron Racing this past May at Toledo Speedway and with that success comes opportunity as Win-Tron Racing has selected Hanson to drive in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season finale Sunday afternoon at Toledo Speedway.
With literally no experience in the ARCA RE/MAX Series before his inaugural start earlier this year, Hanson stepped in and took control at Toledo Speedway. After practicing very strong, the Ramsey, Minnesota native bolted to the top spot in ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying, giving Win-Tron Racing their first pole of the season while marching forward in the race to lead 31 laps before settling for a eighth place finish. Hanson's qualifying run shattered the previous track record as well etching his name into the record books by becoming the first car in ARCA RE/MAX Series history at Toledo Speedway to post a qualifying time in the 15-second bracket.
Five months later, Hanson is back and ready for another strong showing.
"I'm excited to be back," said the 19-year old driver. "To have another shot in the ARCA RE/MAX Series with Win-Tron Racing is a big deal to me. We had a great showing in May and I know we can come back here and do it again."
Hanson continued, "Toledo is such a neat place to race. A fast track but you need to be in control there. It's a handling track too. You have to be able to grip your tires with the racetrack or you're out to lunch. Even with one race together, we were able to find a setup that worked for us. We're going to unload with the same package and hope for good things this weekend."
When asked what his goals are for this weekend, Hanson was quick to react.
"We want to win," sounded Hanson. "Win-Tron Racing deserves to be in victory lane and I feel we have all the ingredients to make it happen. I enjoyed working with crew chief Mike Chaffee and the rest of the team. I'm hope were' going to be able to roll off the truck and pick up where we left off. If not, we have some time to get back there. Nonetheless, the goal stays the same for the race. Winning is the big picture."
He added, "It's going to be a competitive race. I've looked at the entry list and there are some tough teams and hungry drivers entered. We're ready for that though. We're hungrier for a win. Staying out of trouble and staying alert can be the biggest challenge for any race team this weekend."Long Haul Trucking and Auto Repair Service will serve as the primary sponsors on Hanson's Dodge Charger for the season finale this weekend. "This is not only an important race for me, but it's equally as important for my sponsors once again. This race is televised, so I want to attract some attention. It's extra important for me to go out there and stay focused so we can put this team in the spotlight. Finishing strong in the last race of the year is a big confidence booster for anyone going into the off season," Hanson noted.
Win-Tron Racing Nate Thiesse commented on this weekend's activities, "We're thrilled to welcome Andy Hanson and his sponsors back to the team. We feel confident that we're going to unload strong and hope to be a threat. It's important for us to finish the season on a high note as we prepare to make next year an even stronger year. As he showed in May, Andy definitely has the credentials to get the job done for us this weekend."
Entering Toledo, Win-Tron Racing sits 15th in the ARCA RE/MAX Series owner's standings after 20 races. 180 credits separate car owner Kevin Cywinski from the 14th position held by Andy Hillenburg (No. 11). The team maintained their position from their last outing at Talladega Superspeedway where James Buescher recorded a 31st place finish, enduring transmission failure after sitting on the ARCA SIM Factory pole.
